Creating a Safer Community
ISMCPI was established in 1995 and since that time has provided professional development opportunities for thousands of crime prevention, security, law enforcement, planning and urban design professionals around the world.
ISMCPI is the leader in the facilitation of cost effective in-house Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) programs for government authorities and design and planning professionals in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
ISMCPI CPTED workshops provide an enduring capacity for local crime prevention and community safety issues to be identified, prioritised - and addressed locally - by enhancing networking and developing a shared level of knowledge and understanding of community safety issues among key stakeholders
"Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is defined as a multi-disciplinary approach for reducing crime through urban and environmental design and the management and use of built environments. CPTED strategies aim to reduce victimization, deter offender decisions that precede criminal acts, and build a sense of community among inhabitants so they can gain territorial control of areas and reduce opportunities for crime and fear of crime. CPTED is pronounced ‘sep-ted’ and it is known around the world as Designing Out Crime, defensible space, and other similar terms". (International CPTED Association)
ISMCPI facilitators were among the pioneers of CPTED in Australia & New Zealand and can draw on nearly 80 years of real-world experience in the fields of policing, community and personal safety and security and community consultation.
ISCMPI offers a suite of 1, 2 & 3 day CPTED programs as well as tailor made presentations that provide a clear understanding of this proven crime prevention concept within the local context.
